Have acquired OH-6A airframe S/N 68-17252 records indicate this aircraft was

with the C-1/9 Feb 71 - Apr 71. April 5th of 71 took 30 hits. We are interested in

displaying this particular aircraft and are looking for more information. Does

anyone know a P W2 D.G. Mclaughlin? and what is a "pink team" mission? We

have two other airframes S/N's 68-17331 and 68- 15971 as well. Thanks, Scott

Gang, Grover Wright's reunion video is now complete! It is a wonderful memory

because if are like me the whole five days are a bit of a blur. The video

encapsulates it all and is well worth the donation of $20. Grover's time and

efforts AND the result are priceless. If you went to the reunion, you'll definitely

want one as a keepsake. If you didn't go, you'll want to see what you missed

and I'll just bet you won't miss the next one. Contact Grover at

Sky172Pilot@aol.com to get your copy. Also, for those who haven't been

informed, Capt. Irling Smith passed in his sleep over the weekend. He was a

giant among men and will be greatly missed. 24 OUT

I'm an old Cav guy, just not a member of the 1/9. You have a great site, which

has taken a lot of work by someone. My thanks to that person for his time and

effort. I have agreed to try to help someone who is a cousin of a MIA helicopter

Pilot. Her name is Betty Watson. She would like to get in touch with anyone

that knew him. I have found the following info. His Wall location (44E-42 ). He

was in HHT/1/9 Cav. His WOC class was 66-21. The tail number of the A/C he

was in was 67-17254. Following is a copy of the e-mail that I received

requesting the help. Message: Did you possibly know WO Jimmy Lee Watson,

served with the 1st Cavalry Division from 67 until his MIA status in 03-13-68? He

put down his aircraft about 5 miles from Camp Evans, with ten men on board.

On a logistics mission, with LT.Purda, 4 unidentified men and four others, of

whom were, Sgt.Clevland Evans, SP5 Steven Heitman, SFC Eugene Gubbins,

and PFC Larry Moore. A search was initiated, but there was no trace of the

downed UH-IH. However a shallow grave revealed the finding of Gubbins and

Moore. The other three men have not been seen or heard from since 03- 13-68.

Hope you can help with some info about my cousin Jimmy Lee Watson. As we

are having a family reunion in September, and it would be nice to give his

cousins, aunt's and uncle's some remembrance of him. As his father and

brother are deceased, his mother is in a nursing home, unable to speak, hear,

or know anyone. We, the family would like to have something of Jimmy Lee. A

piece of his life that we don't have. Thank you for your time in reading this and

the job you did for our country. Is there anybody out there that knew Jimmy and

would be willing to talk to Betty. Let me know at daddyji@attglobal. Jim Preston

Arrived in An Khe around July 1977, and was assigned to C Troop, 1st

Squadron, 9th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division (Air Mobile) operating out of LZ Two

Bits, down the road from LZ English. Charlie Troop 1st/9th was my last

assignment in Nam. I had spent 18 months down south with the 25th Div and, I

believe, the 145 Avn Brigade (Bn), I'm going to have to check my record for sure!

It's been a long time coming home!

I worked as a photographer for ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia, 1981-85 and logged

many hours flying with Petroleum Helicopters Inc. With one, (marine), exception

all the pilots were ex-army and veterans of the war. If anybody knows how Bruce

Launius, last heard of in Louisana but originally from Calif., or Clem Ridgeway

last heard of in Florida, or any ex Saudi pilots are doing please drop me an e-

To All: Just returned from reunion in DC. Enjoyed it very much and espically

enjoyed seeing all you C Troopers. For those of you that didn't go, you missed a

good time, not only of reflection but a chance to see some old friends. ( I mean

"old" in a good way.) Thanks to the Troopers that planned everything, you did an

outstanding job. My wife and the two youngest sons that attended with me got a

good history lesson. They also were very impressed with Julie's dedication to

her brother's memory. Keep it up, people are listneing. Thanks and good to see

you all.
