Hi Guys - Thanks Walker, you put a lot of work in this - it's great - I served with C Trp

from April 69 to Apr70 - Started off flying gun with Wagner, flew 6x-ray with Felton

and Tredway - Served a short time in slicks and finished up my last four months as

Blue - Knew a lot of brave & just plain good guys - Haven't kept in touch, but going to

DC - Be good to see a lot of you - I remember most of you - Powell, Lane,

Simmerville, Jelick, Mathis, Pressman, Rhett, Lee, Skyles, Dies & others I just

remember by call sign or their face & others & McDerby - my main buddy who lived

thru VN but is no longer with us - god bless him - Thanks Mick W. -

If you are able ,save for them a place, inside of you. And save one backward glance,

when you are leaving, for the places, they can no longer go. Be not ashamed to say,

you loved them. Though you may or may not have always. Take what they have

left, and what they have taught you, with their dying, and keep it with your own. And

in time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane. Take one moment to

"Cavalier 13 On Guard Going Down 5 miles southeast of Song Be. Get rid of all the

ammo, dump weapons just before we hit and shut-up. I'm going to be too busy to

talk for the next few minutes." This is to Dan Snowden. That fatefull day, 30 yrs.

ago today, didn't look to be very promising for us. We were at 600 ft.AGL and had

just lost our tail, litterally. To be honest Dan, I thought we were goners for sure. All

over but the shoutin'. I don't know to this day how we managed to survive, but, all

three of us made it. A little worse for wear, but, still alive. I want to tell you again,

what a fine job you did getting us on the ground. The 'bird' was never the same

again, but, we damn sure made it. Thank You from the bottom of my heart. Garth

Rankin, if you're out there, and happen to read this; I never did get to Thank You

for pulling me out from underneath that messed-up bird. If you make it to the

reunion in July. I would love to Thank You personally. Thank You All Guys, We

I apologize for the delay in responding. I served from june 1968 to june 1969. My

callsign was Cavalier 28. I flew Cobras nearly the whole tour. People that were

there the same time include Terry Washburn from Mora, Minn., Bill Wagner, who

flew the CO (6) in a C model, Ron Bodholt, and Lance. Another pilot was Named

Davenport. He flew Cobras for a short time before being assigned to Slicks. He

was shot down after picking up a LRP team. They all were KIA. I will go for now.

Won't be in DC. Maybe another time, another place.
